How a home build, remodel or restoration works

From the first call to the keys, or to a home put back together. These are the real steps. We do not promise timelines before we have seen the job.

Building or remodeling

Custom homes, remodels, bathrooms, additions and roofing follow the same path.

  1. First call

You tell us what you want to build or change, and where.

We ask about the lot or the house, what is not working, what you have in mind and roughly what you want to spend. If it is not work we do, we say so.

  2. Site visit

We come out and see it for ourselves.

We walk the lot or the house with you. For a remodel that means looking at what is behind the finishes as far as we can; for a new home it means sun, slope, access and utilities.

  3. Scope and price

You get a written scope and price.

We put down what is included, what is not, and the price. Plans and selections get settled here, because changing them later costs time and money.

  4. The build

We run the job and keep you in the loop.

We schedule the trades, order materials and keep the site safe and tidy. If something unexpected turns up, we stop and talk to you before going on.

  5. Walkthrough and keys

We walk it together before you move in.

We go through the finished work with you, note anything that needs attention and deal with it. Then it is yours.

After fire, water or a monsoon

Restoration runs in a different order: safe first, then dry, then rebuild.

  1. Make it safe

Water off, power off where it is wet, people out of harm’s way.

If anyone is hurt or the house is unsafe, call 911 first. If it is safe to do so, shut off the water at the main and keep away from wet outlets and switches.

  2. Call us

Tell us what happened and where.

We talk you through what to do in the meantime and arrange to come out and see the damage.

  3. Document and dry

We record the damage, then dry the house out.

Photos and notes first, then drying and moisture checks. Materials that cannot be saved come out, so nothing wet is sealed back in.

  4. Rebuild

Drywall, cabinets, floors and finishes go back in.

Because we are builders, the same company that dried the house out puts it back together, matched to the rest of the home.

  5. Home again

    A final walkthrough with you.

We walk the finished rooms together and deal with anything that needs another look.

It is a conversation, not a commitment. Tell us what you have in mind and we will tell you honestly what it involves.
