Home remodeling contractor and builder in Glendale, AZ
Mirage Custom Homes is a home remodeling contractor and custom builder in Glendale, working across the West Valley since 2005. Below is every kind of work we do, what it involves and who it suits.

Custom homes
A custom home starts with your lot and the way you live, not a floor plan picked from a brochure. We build custom homes across Glendale and the West Valley, and have since 2005. You get one builder from the first conversation to the final walkthrough.
What it involves
- Walking the lot with you: orientation, sun, views, access and what the ground will need
- Working the plan around how you live, then pricing it line by line
- Running the build: trades, inspections, materials and the order it all happens in
- Desert-sense details: deep overhangs, shaded glass, stucco and stone that suit the heat
- A walkthrough together before you take the keys
Right for: People with a lot, or close to buying one, who want a house that fits them rather than a model home.
Not for: If you want to pick a plan off a sheet and move in quickly, a production builder will suit you better.

Remodeling
Remodeling is how a house you already own becomes the one you wanted. We remodel kitchens, living areas and whole homes in Glendale and across the West Valley, working out what the house needs first and what you want second, then pricing it in writing before anything comes down.
What it involves
- A walk through the house to see what is there, behind the walls included
- A scope that separates what the house needs from what you would like
- Kitchens: layout, cabinets, counters, lighting and the plumbing behind them
- Opening up rooms, changing flooring and finishes, bringing older homes up to date
- Keeping the rest of the house livable while the work goes on
Right for: Homeowners who like where they live but not how the house works.
Not for: If the job is a single fixture or a quick handyman repair, we are probably more builder than you need.

Bathroom design and remodels
A bathroom remodel works when the layout, the waterproofing and the finishes are planned together. We design and remodel bathrooms in Glendale and the West Valley, from a tub-to-shower conversion to a full primary bath, and we get the plumbing and the waterproofing right before a single tile goes down.
What it involves
- Designing the room: layout, storage, lighting and where the water goes
- Tub-to-shower conversions and curbless walk-in showers
- Waterproofing under the tile, done properly
- Tile, vanities, glass and fixtures chosen with you
- Ventilation, so the room dries out after every shower
Right for: Anyone with a bathroom that is dated, cramped or starting to leak.
Not for: If you only need a new faucet or a caulk line redone, a plumber or handyman will be quicker and cheaper.

Home additions
A good home addition looks like it was part of the house from the start. We build additions in Glendale and the West Valley: extra bedrooms, larger living rooms, primary suites and casitas, matched to your roofline, stucco and floors so the join does not show.
What it involves
- Checking what your lot, setbacks and HOA allow before anything is drawn
- Designing the addition to match the roofline, stucco and windows of the house
- Foundation, framing, roof and the connection to the existing house
- Extending plumbing, electrical and cooling to the new space
- Finishing inside to match, or to start the update the rest of the house will follow
Right for: Families who have outgrown the house but not the neighborhood.
Not for: If the lot has no room left to build on, a remodel that uses the space better may be the answer instead.

Shingle roofing
Arizona sun dries shingles out, and monsoon wind lifts the ones that are already loose. We repair and replace shingle roofs in Glendale and the West Valley, starting with an inspection that tells you whether a repair will do or the roof is due.
What it involves
- Inspecting the roof: shingles, flashing, vents and the deck where we can see it
- Repairing wind-lifted or missing shingles after a storm
- Tracing leaks back to where the water actually gets in
- Full tear-off and replacement when repairs no longer make sense
- Repairing ceilings and drywall inside once the roof is dry
Right for: Homeowners with a shingle roof that leaks, has storm damage or is simply getting old.
Not for: If your roof is tile or foam, tell us what you have and we will tell you straight whether it is work we take on.

When the monsoon gets in
Fire, water, floods and mold. We deal with the damage, then rebuild what it took, so one contractor sees it through.

Fire and water damage restoration
Restoration is two jobs: dealing with the damage, then putting the house back. Because we are builders, we do both. After a burst pipe, a fire or a monsoon leak in Glendale or the West Valley, we document the damage, dry and remove what cannot be saved, then rebuild.
What it involves
- Documenting the damage with photos and notes as we go
- Drying out walls, floors and cabinets, and checking moisture until they are dry
- Removing drywall, flooring and insulation that cannot be saved
- Smoke and soot cleanup after a fire
- Rebuilding: drywall, cabinets, flooring, paint and finishes
Right for: Anyone dealing with water, fire or smoke damage who wants one contractor from clean-up to rebuild.
Not for: If anyone is hurt or the house is unsafe, call 911 first. We come in once everyone is safe.

Flood cleanup
Monsoon storms can drop more rain in an hour than the ground can take, and some of it ends up inside. We clean up after floods in Glendale and the West Valley: water out, mud and debris removed, the house dried properly, and the damaged walls and floors rebuilt.
What it involves
- Removing standing water, mud and debris
- Pulling out wet carpet, pad and baseboards that will not dry
- Drying the structure and checking moisture until it is dry
- Cleaning surfaces the floodwater touched
- Rebuilding walls, floors and trim
Right for: Homes hit by monsoon runoff, a flooded wash or water coming in under doors.
Not for: If water is still rising or the power is on in flooded rooms, stay out and call 911.

Mold testing
Mold needs moisture, so mold testing starts with finding the water. In Glendale and the West Valley we test homes after leaks, floods and that musty smell that will not go away, then explain plainly what we found and what, if anything, needs to be done.
What it involves
- Finding the moisture source: a leak, a slab, a roof or condensation
- Checking walls, floors and cabinets with moisture readings
- Testing so you know what you are dealing with
- A plain explanation of the results and the options
- Fixing the cause and rebuilding, if the work is needed
Right for: Homes with a past leak, visible spots, or a smell that comes back after cleaning.
Not for: If you have a health concern, talk to your doctor first; testing tells you about the house, not about you.
The first hour after damage
Pick what happened. These are general safety steps for the first hour, not a substitute for the fire department or a plumber in an emergency.
If anyone is hurt, or there is fire, smoke or live electricity, call 911 first.
A burst pipe: the first hour
- Shut off the water at the main valve. It is usually where the line enters the house, or in a box near the street.
- If water is near outlets, switches or the panel, stay clear and turn the power off at the breaker only if you can reach it from a dry spot.
- Take photos and video of the water and the damage before you move anything.
- Move furniture, rugs and valuables out of the wet area, and wipe up what you safely can.
- Call us to talk through the next steps and arrange a visit.
Questions people ask before they call
What areas does Mirage Custom Homes work in?
We are based in Glendale and work across the West Valley, including Goodyear, Avondale, Litchfield Park and Buckeye. If you are nearby and not sure, call and ask.
How much will my project cost?
We do not publish prices, because no two homes or rooms are the same. After we have seen the site and agreed the scope, you get a written price before any work starts.
Can one company really handle building and restoration?
Yes. Restoration is mostly building: once the damage is dealt with, the walls, floors and cabinets have to be rebuilt, and that is the work we have done since 2005.
How long will my project take?
It depends on the size of the job, the design and any permits, so we do not guess. Once the scope is agreed, we give you a schedule for your project.
Who will I deal with during the project?
Philip Hoctor is the Member of Mirage Custom Homes and your contact from the first call. You will always know who to ask.
Not sure which of these you need?
Tell us what is going on with the house. We will tell you what it needs, and whether it is work we do.
